Alpha-DP is formulated for the treatment of digestive problems such as belching, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, and exhaustion. It also restores the loss of vital power due to the loss of fluids resulting from painful watery diarrhea and associated weakness.

It should be taken as, for acute conditions, 1-2 tablets for every hour, less acute phase 1-2 tablets 3 times a day and in children 1-2 tablets every hour in the acute phase and 1-2 tablets 3 times a day or otherwise as prescribed by the physician.

Alpha-DP is made up of important homeopathic remedies such as the Arsenicum album, Croton tiglium, Okaubaka, Veratrum album, and Carbo vegetabilis.
Arsenicum album is considered as best in cases of digestive problems, nausea, smell or sight of food nauseates, great thirst, retching, vomiting after eating or drinking, anxiety in the pit of the stomach, burning pain in the abdomen, heartburn, long-standing eructations, vomiting of blood, bile, green mucus or brown-black mucus, stomach extremely irritable and gastralgia from slightest food or drink. It is also a good remedy for dyspepsia from vinegar, acids, ice cream, and tobacco. The complaints are due to the ill effects of vegetables, diet, melons, and watery fruits generally. It is indicated in cholera-like symptoms with intense agony, prostration, burning thirst, and body cold as ice.
Croton tiglium is indicated in diarrhea which is copious, watery, with much urging, always forcibly shot out, with gurgling in the intestines worse drinking the least quantity or even while eating, and constant urging to stool followed by sudden evacuation. There is a swashing sensation in the intestines.
Okaubaka is indicated for vertigo, memory weakness, nicotine intoxication, flatulent dyspepsia, gastritis, and mental retardation.
Veratrum album is an excellent remedy for digestive complaints such as voracious appetite, copious vomiting and nausea, great weakness after vomiting, gastric irritability with chronic vomiting of food, sinking and empty feeling in the stomach, cold feeling in stomach and abdomen, pain in abdomen preceding stool, cramps, sensation as if hernia would protrude, abdomen sensitive to pressure and swollen abdomen with terrible colic. Diarrhea is very painful, watery, copious, and forcibly evacuated, followed by great prostration.
Carbo vegetabilis is one of the best remedies for flatulence and other gastric disturbances such as eructations, heaviness and fullness in the stomach feeling hard and tense from flatulence, pain in the abdomen, eructations after drinking, rancid sour and putrid eructations, waterbrash, asthmatic breathing, nausea in the morning, burning in stomach, contractive pain extending to chest with distension of abdomen and sensitiveness of gastric region. The abdomen is greatly distended, and painful when lifting a weight, or riding in a carriage, and excessive discharge of fetid flatus, intestinal fistula, painful diarrhea of old people, frequent involuntary cadaverous smelling stools, hemorrhoids, excoriation of the anus and bluish burning piles.
