It relieves headaches caused due to exposure to the sun, and excessive intake of tobacco, alcohol and coffee. It relieves throbbing, tearing, digging and boring pain. It also helps in treating headaches due to colds, over-exertion, and psychological and emotional factors. It minimises the frequency and intensity of headaches. Reversible headaches such as trauma to the head, sun or beverages can be treated effectively with Alpha-HA. It relieves the pain in the forehead, occiput and temples.

It is to be taken as internal medicine. Unless otherwise prescribed, 10-20 drops can be taken every half an hour. Gradually, the frequency of the dose can be reduced to three times daily as the symptoms improve or are otherwise prescribed by the physician.

Alpha-HA is prepared from five important homoeopathic remedies such as Spigelia anthelmia, Belladonna, Glonoinum, Nux vomica and Secale cornutum. Spigelia is indicated in periodical headaches in which the pain is tearing, digging or boring in character. The pain is on the left side, mostly beneath the frontal eminence and temples, extending to the eyes. Belladonna covers the throbbing headache with heat, especially in the forehead, occiput and temples, aggravated by light, noise, lying down and better by pressure. Glonoinum is indicated in headaches increasing and decreasing with the sun, throbbing pain with vertigo on upright posture. The head feels enormously large. Nux vomica covers headaches especially in the occiput or over the eyes, worse in the morning, after mental exertion, by intake of tobacco, alcohol and coffee. There is dullness and confusion in the head. Secale cornutum is indicated in headaches with confusion, stupefaction and peripheral circulatory disturbances. The vertigo is as if from intoxication, and lightness of the head, especially in the occipital region.
