The medicine is composed of important drugs such as Hydrastis canadensis, Echinacea angustifolia, Cinnabaris, Kali bichromicum and Baryta muriatica. Hydrastis canadensis is effective in all kinds of mucous membrane inflammations. The symptoms are watery coryza, excoriating with burning, smarting and rawness of the nose, throat and chest. The discharge is scanty indoors and more outdoors. There is sneezing, dull frontal headache, and tickling in the nostril with the discharge of thick, white, tenacious mucus. Echinacea angustifolia covers the stuffiness of nostrils with mucus in the nares and pharynx with a feeling of fullness. The nostrils are sore, raw, and sensitive to cold. The headache is received by sneezing. It helps in building the immune system and prevents repeated attacks of cold. Cinnabaris has an action on the upper respiratory tract. It liquefies the blocked secretions in the nose and paranasal sinuses. It relieves violent fluent coryza, lameness of thighs and pain in the back. The discharge is dirty yellow mucus. There is a sensation of pressure at the root of the nose which extends to the temples and the ear. Kali bichromicum has an affinity for mucous membranes of air passages.
