Sambucus nigra MT acts specially on the respiratory organs. Dry coryza of infants, snuffles, oedematous swellings. The flowers are diaphoretic, diuretic and are used in febrile complaints, as alternative in syphilis and rheumatism. The berries, bark and roots are laxative. Research reports diaphoretic effect (increases sweating) and reduce inflammation. Its juice was used to treat a flu epidemic in Panama in 1993.
