It is clinically indicated in affections of brain as it main action I on the central nervous system. It is given for complaints which after effects of fear and fright. It suppresses the central nervous system and produces sleep and dreamy state. It is also indicated in paralysis of bladder and rectum causing suppression of urine and constipation. It is also given for diabetes mellitus. It is given for hysterical conditions including convulsions, melancholia and abnormal sensations. It is to be thought of in intestinal obstruction and paralysis of intestines. It acts as antidote for lead poisoning. It produces abnormal sleep with sighing and snoring. There is retention of urine and inactivity of uterus. It is also indicated in marasmus and meningitis.
