Grindelia Pentarkan is a homoeopathic medicine which is specially formulated for the treatment of breathing difficulty and chronic bronchitis. It is composed of Ephedra Vulgaris, Grindelia robusta, Ipecacuanha, Justicia adhatoda and Lobelia inflata. Ephedra Vulgaris is indicated in bronchitis where it helps in decongestion, relaxation and expectation. Grindelia robusta is an efficacious remedy for wheezing and oppression in bronchitis patients. The rales are prominent with foamy mucus which is very difficult to detach. It acts on pulmonary circulation. It is indicated in breathing difficulty with profuse tenacious expectoration which gives relief. The sleep is disturbed and gasps for breath. It is also a remedy for tuberculosis, bronchorrhoea, weak heart and respiration, and must sit up to get a breath. Ipecacuanha is the best remedy for breathing difficulty and bronchitis which is associated with nausea and vomiting. The attacks are annual and is characterized by difficulty, shortness of breath, continued sneezing, coryza and wheezing cough. The cough is incessant and violent, with every breath. The chest is full of congestion, suffocating cough, bubbling rales, whooping cough, nausea and feeling of constriction, rattling cough, croup and hoarseness of voice. Justicia adhatoda is an indicated medicine for acute catarrhal conditions of the respiratory tract. The cough is dry, paroxysmal, suffocating,, breathing difficulty with sneezing, severe difficulty in breathing, tightness around the chest, hoarseness of voice, larynx pain and obstruction of breathing. Lobelia inflata is indicated in breathing difficulty and cough, where the breathing is difficult from constriction of the chest, worse from exertion. There is the sensation of pressure or weight in the chest, better with rapid walking. The attacks of breathing difficulty occur with weakness in the pit of the stomach, preceded by prickling all over. The cough is cramps, ringing and short breath.
