Sanguinarinum nitricum

The nitrate of the alkaloid called sanguinarine obtained from Sanguinaria Canadensis.

History and authority: This remedy was proved by Owens. Dr. Clarke has also mentioned the details of this remedy in his book Dictionary of Practical Materia Medica, Vol. III. There are many other authors including Boericke, Blackwood and others who have described this remedy in their works. A compilation of the same is given below.

Clinically used for: Respiratory and related ailments like adenoids, allergies, asthma, bronchitis, catarrh, coryza, laryngitis, polyps, post-nasal catarrh, sore throat, hay fever, etc. Suitable for ear complaints like deafness, eustachian catarrh, tinnitus, etc. Also useful in other complaints like borborygmus, colic, stiff-neck, pharyngitis, headaches, influenza, quinsy and others.

Prepared by: Sanguinarine nitrate is derived from plants like Sanguinaria canadensis, Chelidonium majus, etc. To make one kg of the 1X trituration, Sanguinarine nitrate 100g and Sacchrum lactis 900g is used.
