Effect of Homoeopathic mother tincture in Candida albicans
The study was conducted to assess the antifungal activity of homoeopathic mother tinctures in Candida infection. Syzygium jambolanum, Ficus religiosa, Ocimum sanctum, Allium cepa, Thuja occidentalis, Holarrhena antidysenterica and Eucalyptus globulus mother tinctures were taken to appraise it’s efficacy, against the growth of human pathogenic fungi Candida albicans using paper disc agar diffusion method as per guidelines of clinical and laboratory standard (M44-A) with slight modification. For reference Ketoconazole was used as the standard fungicide. Diameters of inhibition in mm were compared with that of vehicle control. All seven mother tinctures were used in the study showed significant inhibitor activity against Candida albicans as compared to control sample as per the result. Syzygium jambolanum showed maximum zone of inhibition in diameter as compared to other mother tinctures. It is concluded from the study that homoeopathic medicines has inhibitory role against human pathogenic fungi Candida albicans.
