Phytolacca berry is widely used in homeopathy for the treatment of obesity. It possesses appetite suppressant activity, and hypocholesterolemic and excess body weight reducing properties. Phytochemical investigations of the plant revealed the presence of triterpene saponins, triterpene alcohols, betacyanins and lignanes etc. The aim this study was to conduct an evaluation of the antiobesity activity of Phytolacca berry tablets on diet-induced obese rats.
