Symphytum officinale MT may be administered internally in the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers. Also in gastralgia and externally in pruritus. It acts on joints generally. Research reports allantoin as cell proliferant which repairs damaged tissues; the phenolic acids have anti-inflammatory action. A recent study has confirmed that its active principles possess antioxidant capacity.
