It has its main action on central nervous system producing very violent tonic and clonic convulsions. It is indicated in brain fag leading to indistinctness of senses and loss of consciousness. It is useful in the stage of collapse. It is effective in cases of epilepsy, spasm and tetanus. It is indicated in sea sickness and harmful effects of tobacco. It produces peculiar sensations and symptoms.

Mind: It produces delirious state with visual hallucinations.

Head: There is dullness, heaviness, dizziness and stupefaction. Head is drawn back with rigidity of neck muscles.

Eyes: It causes great sensitiveness to light and indistinct vision.

Mouth: The tongue has burning sensation and increased salivation.

Throat: There is dryness of throat and sensation of a sharp brush drawn through esophagus to stomach.

Stomach: Loss of appetite. There is great aversion to tobacco and tobacco smoking. It produces belching with some vomiting. It also relieves uneasy sensation extending from stomach upwards and downwards.

Heart: The pulse is increased in frequency and irregular respiration and sometimes sinking.

Extremities: Formication in the tips of fingers extending to wrists and elbows.

Generalities: It produces peculiar clonic spasms and extremities tremble. Respiration is difficult and uneasiness in the chest region. There are paroxysms of faintness with vanishing of senses and loss of consciousness.

In some cases they are given as regular doses as 3-5 drops 2-3 times a day whereas in other cases they are given only once in a week, month or even in a longer period.
