Guarana MT contains a large percentage of caffeine, which may explain its use as remedy for certain forms of sick headache, migraine, mild depression, to boost energy. It is also used in chronic diarrhoea. A recent animal study in adult aistar rats treated only with P. cupana presented a significant increase in plasma testosterone levels and a significant increase in volumetric proportions of seminiferous tubules, which are indicative of spermatogenic stimulation.
