Tylophora indica MT – This plant is used as a substitute for Ipecacuanha. The drug has potential for chronic fatigue syndrome, immune system disorders. It is generally used in dyspepsia, diarrhoea, rheumatism and nervous disorders. The crude leaves are good for bronchial asthma but the active ingredient is destroyed due to alcohol. Some physicians use the trituration of the dried leaves. The 3-6th potencies have been reported to relieve pain of rheumatoid arthritis. Research has shown that tylophorine has anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor properties. Recent researches have also shown it possesses hepatoprotective activity.
