In homoeopathy, Acalypha indica MT is used mainly for incipient phthisis but it also covers dry cough with blood or low-grade fever, diarrhoea, jaundice and certain symptoms similar to tuberculosis of lungs. It has effect on arresting rectal haemorrhage, which is different from bacillary dysentery or blood discharge of a person suffering from haemorrhoids. In phyto-therapy it is reported as substitute for Senega. Useful in bronchitis, pneumonia and asthma. A very recent study has showed statistically significant (p<0.001) analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity of Acalypha indica in mice.
