UTERINE FIBROID AND ITS HOMOEOPATHIC MANAGEMENT
Recently a multicentric randomized study had been done to evaluate the effect of homoeopathic remedies in LM potency in respect to CH potency in cases of uterine fibroids. 216 patients (LM: 108 and CH: 108) are enrolled for the screened for symptomatic uterine fibroids with the preset inclusion and exclusion criteria. To screen and follow-up the enrolled patients a consultant specialized in obstetrics and gynecology was engaged at each center. Homoeopathic physicians engaged in the study were responsible for prescription and follow-up for 12 months. The criteria of primary outcome were change in symptoms in uterine fibroid on the visual analogue scale from 0 to 10 and findings through ultrasonography (USG) between LM and CH potencies. Changes in uterine fibroid symptom quality of life questionnaire (UFSQOL) were the criteria of secondary outcome. 209 patients ((LM: 106, CH: 103) were analysed under intension to treat analysis. On VAS scale after 1 year of treatment both the LM & CH potencies were found equally effective. The health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and subdomains of UFSQOL also showed equal effectiveness in both the groups. Except the uterine volume on difference were observed in USG findings. Pulsatilla, Sulfur, Lycopodium, Sepia, Phosphorus, Calcarea carbonica were the frequently prescribed drugs. Hence it was concluded that in cases of Uterine fibroid LM & CH both the potencies are equally effective to give symptomatic relief.
