Embelia ribes Burm. F., also known as Baberang in Hindi. The proving was conducted in 1994 using 6, 30 and 200 centesimal potencies at (i) Drug Proving Research Unit, Kolkata (W.B.), (ii) Regional Research Institute, New Delhi, (iii) Drug Proving Research Unit, Midnapore (W.B.) and (iv) Drug Proving Research Unit, Ghaziabad (U.P.) by Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, India. The proving details are in the book “Homoeopathic Drug Provings”, published by the council in 2005. The drug has earlier been reported by S. K. Banerjea, P. Banerjee and S. C. Ghose. Dried fruits are used for the preparation mother tincture. 45 provers in the age group of 19-43 years took part in the proving, 11 of them were females. Head
Headache with nausea, worse 9.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m.
Eyes
Heaviness of upper eyelids, better washing with cold water. Burning sensation with heaviness in upper eyelids, better washing with cold water.
Nose
Coryza from cold water bath, thin watery discharge from nose, turned into thick and yellow, worse lying down.
Throat
Irritation in throat, better hot drinks.
Stomach
Excessive thirst.
Abdomen
Pain in whole abdomen, better after stool. Pain in whole abdomen with flatulence and increased thirst, better pressure. Constant passing of flatus. Griping pain around umbilicus with diarrhoea, loss of appetite, fear of death, weakness, worse bending forward, pressure, movement; better cold fomentation, after stool. Cramping pain in lower abdomen with nausea and ineffectual desire for stool.
Rectum
No urge for stool with frequent thirst for small quantity of water. Diarrhoea: thin, yellowish, offensive stool with ineffectual urge, nausea and thirstlessness. Stool loose, watery and profuse, of fishy odour with griping pain in abdomen and increased thirst, better rest, open air. Constipation with headache. Constipation: stool, hard, insufficient.
Respiratory
Dry cough with hoarseness of voice.
Back
Uneasiness in back of the head and neck in evening with coryza. Pain in lower part of back, worse movement.
Chest
Aching pain in right side of chest.
Fever
Fever with thirst and frontal headache, worse morning.
