Skookum chuck
Skookum chuck is prepared from salts from water of Medicinal Lake near Spokane, Washington. This drug was first introduced by Dr. W.D.Gentry in an article in U.S. Med. Month., 1889. Water is deep amber colour contains different minerals like Sodic chloride, Sodic silicate, Potassic chloride, Magnesic carbonate, Sodic carbonate, Calcic carbonate, Ferrous carbonate, Aluminic oxide, etc.
It is proved by CCRH through multicentre double-blind placebo controlled method. 30 healthy provers are participated after pre medical examination, and routine lab investigation. The drug was proved in three potencies 6CH, 30CH and 200CH. A combined materia medica of this new proving and existing data is given below:
Vertigo
Patients have feeling of falling on closing eyes. Vertigo associated with headache and nausea.
Head
Headache with heaviness in forehead, worse.by pressure, and better.by drinking tea. Throbbing pain in forehead, temporal region aggravated by noise, reading and amelioration by pressure. Pain in temporal region and forehead extends to both eyes, relief by applying water. Sensation of dizziness, dullness, drowsiness, worse in movement, rising from bed and better by sitting, lying down.
Eyes
Painful styes on the right side of eyelids.
Nose
Thick greenish discharge from nose. Copious coryza with persistent sneezing. Dryness of nostril. Painful red eruptions inside the left nostril, worse from touch. Sneezing, running nose, bland discharge followed by thick catarrhal discharge.
Face
Itching of face during menses.
Mouth
Bitter, sour taste in mouth. Pain and soreness in gums and swelling of tongue.
Throat
Dryness of throat, amelioration after hot food. Pain in throat, worse on swallowing, morning, better by drinking tea and warm drink. Sensation as if throat is stick together worse by eating. Cough caused by tickling in throat.
Stomach
Burning in stomach, indigestion with nausea; vomiting of undigested food. Severe burning in stomach with vomiting tendency. Eructation and dryness of mouth with thirst. Nausea with chill, fever and great thirst. Thirst associated with headache. Thirstlessness with dryness of throat. Pain in epigastrium, worse after taking food. Appetite increased.
Abdomen
Gurgling sound in abdomen due to accumulation of flatulence, amelioration by passing stool and flatus. Burning pain in right hypochondrium, and around umbilicus. Pain abdomen, better by walking. Griping pain around umbilicus, relieved by passing loose stool.
Rectum
Constipation with much flatus. Frequent urge for stool, with flatulence and burning pain in anus
Stool
Loose, sticky, blackish stool, difficult to wash. Frequent loose watery stool with flatulance.
Urine
Pale yellow coloured urine.
Cough
Frequent dry cough associated with nausea. Tickling cough, worse by talking, in closed room, better by cold water and open air.
Expectoration
White thick expectoration, worse in morning
Chest
Pain in chest and intercostal space on both sides. Eruptions on breast, with itching and pain. It is indicated in benign growth in breast.
Extremities
Pain in joints especially knee, pain in calves with weakness. Vesicular eruptions in middle of left thigh with slight itching aggravate by covering. Severe rheumatic pains in limbs.
Fever
Mild fever with cough. Fever with chill and nausea. Fever with pain in joints.
Skin
Dry, papular eruptions all over the body, dorsum of palms, back of hands and loin. Itching, worse after sweating. It is indicated in urticarial. It is used in eczema plantaris, fissured, exuding an acrid secretion.
Generalities
Lethargic feeling. Weakness worse after stool.
