Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation fights malnutrition with homoeopathy

As per reports, Gujarat is a state where the awareness of homoeopathy is better. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has initiated to fight malnutrition by administering homoeopathy drugs. Malnutrition may be due to few diseases obstructing optimum use of food, apart from deficiency of nutrients. At the end of 16 health check-up camps in the city where around 20,000 persons, including around 5,000 children, were checked up last month, it was found that around 700 children suffered from undernourishment and needed special attention. These children were administered homoeopathy drugs and were asked to report back to doctors after a month.

At a meeting of allopathic doctors and civic officials last week, the former were reportedly told to monitor the progress among the children and repeat the dosages, if needed. Deputy municipal commissioner (health) I K Patel stated that homoeopathy was an effective system to treat undernourishment. Mayor Asit Vora said children were being given homoeopathy drugs since they liked its sweet taste.
